SPECIFICATIONS:

Hybrid System Notes: It's gas. It's electric. It's smart. As the most fuel-efficient midsize sedan in America,** Milan Hybrid helps you go farther on a tank of gas -- more than 700 miles on a tank of fuel in city driving.** Milan Hybrid propulsion is supplied by a combination of two sources: a permanent magnet electric motor powered by an innovative nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) battery, and the next generation of the 2.5L Atkinson-Cycle I-4 Hybrid engine.

The electric motor can propel Milan Hybrid up to 47 mph and combines with the gasoline engine when extra power is needed. Combined power rating is 191-net horsepower. The 2.5L Atkinson-cycle I-4 Hybrid engine features late intake valve closing (LIVC), as well as advancements in processor technology for seamless transitions from gas to electric mode.

Recycling is smart. Especially when it helps recharge the battery pack. When you apply the brakes in a conventional vehicle, the energy is lost due to friction. During braking in the Milan Hybrid, the electric motor captures 94 percent of this energy that is normally lost and sends it back to the battery pack to be stored for later use.

Where can Milan Hybrid be serviced?
Service is provided through Mercury Dealerships.

Can this vehicle be jump-started?
Yes, absolutely. The 2010 Mercury Milan Hybrid can be treated just like any other vehicle and jump-started.

Is Milan Hybrid eligible for a tax credit?
Yes, Milan Hybrid has been approved by the IRS for a tax credit of $1,700. Customers who purchase a Milan Hybrid by September 30, 2009, may be eligible to claim this tax credit.** For complete information on the federal tax credit program, visit the IRS Web Site at http://www.irs.gov. For tax credit comparisons between vehicles, visit http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/tax_hybrid.shtml. These websites are updated periodically and may not yet include all current information regarding 2009 and 2010 model year vehicles.

Is Milan Hybrid part of the carbon-offset program?
Yes. Milan Hybrid is produced under a carbon-offset program. By funding U.S.-based renewable clean-energy projects that reduce emissions elsewhere, Mercury offsets greenhouse gases at its Kansas City plant by the same amount released during the manufacture of each 2010 Milan Hybrid.

Should I plug Milan Hybrid into a wall socket for recharging?
No, the Milan Hybrid never has to be plugged into an electrical outlet. The Regenerative Braking System in the vehicle automatically recharges the battery pack.

Where can I get fuel for Milan Hybrid?
The same place where you would go for a nonhybrid vehicle — a gas station. Milan Hybrid operates on 87-octane fuel. **This information is not intended as tax advice. The tax benefit will depend on your individual tax circumstances. The tax credit will begin to phase out for purchases made after 3/31/09. Consult your tax advisor or the IRS to confirm the amount of credit that you can claim.

SmartGauge with EcoGuide can help you go farther on a tank of gas. Featuring an innovative LCD gauge cluster with colorful graphics, the dual SmartGauge cluster with EcoGuide provides you with performance-related information for Milan Hybrid. You simply select one of four different levels of information to be displayed while you’re driving:
  • Inform: Adds fuel level and battery-charge status
  • Enlighten: Adds electric vehicle mode indicator and tachometer
  • Engage: Adds engine output power and battery output power
  • Empower: Adds power to wheels, engine pull-up threshold and accessory power consumption

One of the most innovative features actually measures your short-term driving efficiency using vines with leaves. As your driving becomes more efficient, more vines and leaves are displayed. Conversely, as your efficiency decreases, so do the vines and leaves. If you prefer, you can see your efficiency in graph form.

Regardless of the level you choose, you can view a display of fuel economy history, odometer, engine coolant temperature, the gear the vehicle is in and trip data. Instant Fuel economy is included in Enlighten, Engage and Empower screens.

No, you don’t need to plug it in at night. The 275-volt sealed nickel-metal-hydride battery (NiMH) pack transfers power to the electric motor to propel the car up to 47 miles per hour. In fact, that’s the highest top speed of any hybrid vehicle in the electric mode. An 8-year/100,000-mile limited warranty is included.** See your local Mercury Dealer for warranty details.
