Adipex-P PrescriptionPLUS Lifestyle Program is available through your physician. These booklets offer information on diet and exercise to assist in weight loss.
It also contains information for physicians who need information on prescribing Adipex-P as part of a PrescriptionPLUS Lifestyle Program.
Statistics have demonstrated that any endeavor when coupled with a comprehensive plan has a much greater chance of success*. The PrescriptionPLUS lifestyle Program is far more than a diet plan; it is filled with valuable information to aid your patients in making those important lifestyle changes that are crucial to their long term health.
* Variability of Body Weight and health outcomes in the Framingham Population, Lissner, et al, New England Journal of Medicine, June 27, 1991
Adipex-P is contraindicated in arteriosclerosis, cardiovascular disease, and moderate to severe hypertension. Other contraindications or adverse events include central nervous system effects, gastrointestinal disturbances, hives, and changes in libido. Exercise caution when prescribing anti-obesity drugs for patients with mild hypertension. Adipex-P is indicated as a short-term monotherapy in combination with a long-term obesity treatment program. Primary pulmonary hypertension (PPH) and cardiac valvular disease have been reported in patients receiving a combination of phentermine and fenfluramine or dexfenfluramine. The possibility of an association between PPH and the use of phentermine alone cannot be ruled out.

Directions: The usual adult dose is one capsule or tablet (37.5 mg) daily, administered before breakfast or 1-2 hours after breakfast. For tablets, the dosage may be adjusted to the patient’s need. For some patients 1/2 tablet (18.75 mg) daily may be adequate, while in some cases it may be desirable to give 1/2 tablet (18.75 mg) two times a day.

|
Warnings: ADIPEX-P® is indicated only as short-term monotherapy for the management of exogenous obesity. The safety and efficacy of combination therapy with phentermine and any other drug products for weight loss, including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (e.g., fluoxetine, sertraline, fluvoxamine, paroxetine), have not
been established. Therefore, coadministration of these drug products for weight loss is not recommended. |
