The all-natural, FDA-approved, professional-grade Avogel Scar Reduction Hydrogel Sheeting is the leading water-based gel sheet (hydrogel) for reducing the scar size, thickness, firmness, height, and color of all types of scars, including new and old scars, post-surgery scars, keloids, hypertrophic scars, and other scar types caused by injury, trauma, and burns. Avogel helps flatten, smooth, soften, and fade the color of the scar. Composed of 60-70% water and containing no silicone, Avogel can help reduce tenderness, pain and itching (pruritus) associated with scarring, and lessen redness surrounding the scar (erythema).
Noticeable scar fading is usually seen in 2-4 weeks. For best results, patients should continue to use Avogel for four weeks after the scar fades.
Avogel is made of a soft, comfortable, and highly flexible polymer material that can be easily cut to fit any scar size and can be used on almost any anatomical location of the body. Avogel sheets may be used to help in the prevention of hypertrophic and keloid scarring when used on closed scars following surgery, trauma, or burns.
Avogel’s scar reduction benefits can be explained by the hydrogel’s capacity to ensure that the covered skin maintains a continuous elevation of skin temperature, which is an essential element in scar reduction. The water bound in the hydrogel creates a supersaturated environment for the covered skin and ensures that the skin is optimally hydrated for scar healing. This increased healing and scar remodeling activity allows the hydrogel to obtain optimal scar healing in 12-18 hours per day, whereas conventional silicone sheeting requires a longer daily treatment time.
Avogel’s scar reduction benefits are backed by clinical studies which demonstrate that 80% of scars became softer, less elevated, and returned toward normal skin color. Additionally, 100% of patients experienced improvement in symptoms of pruritus (itching), pain, and tenderness.

Directions: Gently press the adhesive side of the Avogel over the scar so it fits firmly over the contours of the scar. Make sure the edges of the Avogel extend one inch beyond the scar border. Netting, gauze, cloth bandages, stretch or pressure garments may be worn over the Avogel to keep it in place. Return the unused portion of the Avogel back into the foil pouch and store it in the re-sealable bag provided. Store the Avogel at room temperature. |
